Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-08-22

These terms govern your use of the GeoAPI service. By creating an account or using the API you accept them.

Who operates this service

GeoAPI is operated by an individual, not a company. These terms are governed by the laws of Spain, and the courts of Spain have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

You can reach the operator at brscimen@gmail.com. That address is the correct route for questions about these terms, about billing, and about your data.

The service

GeoAPI is a read-only HTTP JSON API serving geographic reference data — countries, regions, cities, postal codes, time zones and IP geolocation — together with a web dashboard for managing your account and API keys.

The data is reference data compiled from third-party sources and is provided as-is. It is not authoritative, it is not suitable for navigation, emergency response, or any purpose where an incorrect location can cause harm, and it will contain errors. The sources and their licenses are listed on the attribution page.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Plans, quota and billing

Plans carry a per-second rate limit and a monthly request quota, as published on the pricing page. Exceeding the per-second limit returns an error for the offending requests; exhausting the monthly quota stops further requests until the quota resets.

Payment is processed by Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe and are never received or stored by this service. Charges are for the period purchased. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund the current period.

If you delete your account, any active subscription is cancelled immediately with no refund of the remaining paid period. Deletion is never blocked on billing state, and remaining paid time is forfeited.

Availability and API stability

No uptime guarantee is offered at this tier of service. There is no SLA and no service credit. Current availability is published on the status page linked in the footer of every page.

Breaking changes to the /v1 API will be announced before they take effect. Additive changes are not breaking: new fields may appear in responses and new endpoints may be added at any time, and your client must tolerate unknown fields rather than rejecting them.

Termination

The operator may suspend or terminate an account for conduct falling under acceptable use. You may delete your account at any time from the dashboard, without giving a reason.

Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability

The service and the data are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

The operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, lost revenue or lost data, arising from your use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, it is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change. Material changes will be announced and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change with them. Continuing to use the service after the effective date is acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not accept them, delete your account.

Privacy

What personal data is collected, why it is kept, and how long it is retained are set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
